You might remember, I’m not an astrologist but I do like to look at things from lots of different perspectives. It can be helpful to observe life from a cellular level and then all the way out to the ethers. Here’s a snapshot of how you might want to see today’s universal weather.

The moon might be conjuncting Mars and Neptune in Pisces as I write. No matter what, it’s happening. This alongside a slew of planets already retrograde makes clarity a scarce commodity. Wasn’t it Ann Lennox of the Eurythmics who sang, “Sweet dreams are made of cheese.” That’s right, right?

Right now the only thing clear is that communication is messy. This way one moment and that way the next. Whether it’s yourself or others you’re in communication with it’s easy to misunderstand and be misunderstood. Moving forward is in circles. Patience is required. Mind the brainwashing that can come with such polarities.

So why not wake up and smell the roses. Nothing too progressive is happening. Whatever fire is before you, it’s likely been burning like this for a bit. It has its own intelligence now. It’s not yielding. Another way said, it’ll do what it wants. Take the weekend to get away while attending to the party. Whatever that means. How ever that can happen. Weeding, organizing a closet, a walk in the park of solidarity. You see what I mean. Whatever you do, do it with equanimity. Bring balance to the circular progression by staying awake in and enlivened to your life.

I’ve learned
The distraction of aging.
The downward
Pull.
Centrifugal spiraling
Towards things lost,
Things gone.

A day as good as summer.
The garden tractor idling,
The tall timothy guarding the still colt
Laid out
Bagged in the cloudy sac.
This nearly transparent film reeling from a lofty museum
Too beautiful for reason.

Grey lids drawn closed over her eyeball’s glint,
Lashes like spiders.
Nose dark as a drum beat
If not for the spot pink as a ham.
Her baby legs bent,
Graceful runners cupped in soft bone colored boots,
Perfectly preserved in the milky dream between us.

Me,
Standing at the edge of the map,
Shading my eyes against the light.
Beholding silence
Save the white sheets
Crisp as starched ghosts
Snapping against time.

Everything that runs wants to.

We have been operating with a stellium in Pisces that has shifted into Aries. Capricorn, Libra, Cancer, and Aries are all involved, or in other words, the Cardinal signs. The cardinal signs are leaders that like to get things done, NOW!

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn and exalted by Mars. Libra is ruled by Venus and exalted by Saturn. Cancer is ruled by the Moon and exalted by Jupiter. Aries is ruled by Mars and exalted in Capricorn. This is an abundance of energy to support change as we approach and move through the upcoming Moon cycle. You can bet your sweet bottom dollar that some will fight this.

Use this energy like the spring wind it is and clear out the old. This might be the time of throwing out old associations that are like those stray socks.  You already know to that which I am referring.  You saw a picture of exactly that vibration in your mind’s eys as you read my words. You know, those vibrations, the ones that you just don’t pair well with any longer.

Set them free to find mates that better suit them and let go of your silly sense of responsibility to be “nice.” What is “nice” about keeping a vibration around around only because it has been around a long time. How is that helpful?  Use it or loose it.  Be honest with yourself, because if you are not, that stiff spring breeze is going to blow right through you and you might end up looking silly, like the Emperor in his new clothes. You might think it is a little early for the silly season, but the climate is changing.

March 27 marches in the New Moon in Aries. Saturn, that masterminded task master master, yes I meant to say master 3 times, is involved so prepare before getting started. It is spring right?  Tend to the preparation before planting.  Check out your child-like ideas that might disable a more mature understanding of how to work smart. Practice patience, pay attention, and thoughtful decide based on the inquiry, “Now, what do I want to do?” This powerful moon cycle has the potential to clear the dust and settle old scores, because under this aspect resistance is futile. Take this next Moon cycle to go deep into your stuff and clean out the attic, basement, and the garage!  And don’t miss the flowers popping up despite the hard Earth’s energy.

The-moon's-gravitational-force-Artwork by T. Boehle “The moon’s gravitational force”

I am in a plane headed out to a place far enough away that the fastest means of transportation is the air. I going somewhere else to re-boot, relax, and literally get a new perspective. There was a time when doing such involved wee morning hours of cooking a fabulous picnic and loading up in a horse-powered buggy destined for the countryside.

It wasn’t easy getting here. The morning had an interesting start. The seemingly near Chinook winds kept me up most of the night, whipping in through the cat door. The flap of it flapping and papers blowing about our bedroom all night. It was spooky. In and out of sleep, the sounds reconciled in that half-wit state as haunted. In the morning I woke tired, fully awakened by an eight foot by four foot painting crashing off the wall, smashing its frame to smithereens. The bus to the airport made unexpected stops and at the airport my boarding pass wouldn’t scan so, despite my TSA-Pre standing, it was back to check-in again for a new pass. We raced through the airport and salvaged the plan of eating breakfast at Root Down by getting carry out for the plane, and arrived just in time to board when someone over the load speaker said our flight was delayed and hour and a half!

Hmm. My resources are low. I think of my kids, get out my phone and text them: “Flight delayed. Be safe. I love you.” I am tired and, honestly, the fitful night’s sleep provided the perfect backdrop for thinking about scary stuff despite the fact that there wasn’t really anything more scary then Colorado winds. But what about the painting? That is weird and, furthermore, that painting signified to me a deep understanding of myself, the universe, and me in the universe. And, really? The boarding pass doesn’t scan and then the plane has mechanical problems?

But I have done this before, gotten myself worked up about the secret meaning of things. There is a big difference between intuition and anxiety. Yes, it does seem my ability to get where I am going is slowed, and whenever the expected becomes the unexpected the cognitive brain sets about to solve the mystery, and usually from the worst-case scenario. All, of course, in an effort at self-preservation. And, ironically, the impetus for that can, and after years of practice, does bring my attention to the goodness in my life. The wind, stirring things up, relentless to not let lying dogs sleep. I love that fury and determination. The painting jumping off the wall and crashing straight to the floor like a declaration, “Remember there are no happy chances, only the infinite opportunity to create them.” The resistance met at getting to the gate, the delayed plane all reminders of three things:

  1. There is no control. Control is an illusion.
  2. Influence is the powerful force behind the smoke and mirrors of control.
  3. Things aren’t always what they seem to be.

I will be on terra firma soon enough, and I trust I will have a deeply satisfying experience, because once I get out of my own fearful way I can see that I can always be heading in the direction of where I want to be. Where I am isn’t where I am headed; it is only from which I am starting.

The March 12th Full Moon in Virgo is pulling a lot of big pieces together and bringing them down to Earth. It is a good vibration for healing some stuff way out there in your past. Think about it this way, you can think about yourself or you can think about your self as a part the whole. This can be very enlightening. Mind getting spooked, trust that it is not always and might be nearly never about you alone. Find the value where you can, re-evaluate your route, and keep on keeping on.

Baby it is cold out there! Mercury goes retrograde today. Expect some breakdown in communication. Mars leaves Aquarius for Pisces. Pay attention. This aspect can make it easy to slip on your own black ice. Aries is moving into Uranus; you know what that is like. It is the shocking reality that you stepped on the black ice, but there is no turning back. You are gonna fall! The Moon in Virgo is square to Saturn in Sagittarius. As your feet sweep out from under you, you might see all your past misgivings in high definition.  All your failings, all your falters.  This energy can get you thinking about a lot of unhelpful things you believe about yourself.

Get some perspective for the coming week. Bundle up in self-love and, like a canary, sing your heart out. It is the best way to meet what might become an avalanche of self-loathing. Mind boarding the boat for the island of misfit toys and making it all about you. Self-pity can be like black ice – you can’t see it, but it will knock you on your backside. And you will surely feel unsupported in that cold hard world. But hey, sometimes we find our best footing after a hard fall. So rest assured, even if you do slip into all that, you can get up, brush yourself off, and mind your blind spots on the retake. Mind getting stuck in the snow show.

Take two: It is Christmas time. You gotta believe in the generosity of Santa. Do your best to do unto others as they would like to be done unto. That is right, treat others as they would like to be treated, yourself included.  Skate through this energy with the agility and grace of Dorothy Hamill in the 1976 Olympics.

lonely-eleanorIt is here!  The full moon in Taurus came in Monday morning. Chiron in Pisces supported the Moon while the Sun in Scorpio opposed it. Sometimes polarized energies support a wealth of opportunity in what can go unnoticed as the space between. There is no option in one choice and there only two options in two choices, but the distance between two options is abundance.

This full moon finishes up some old, stubborn beliefs about how to play well with others around the concepts of love and money. You may desire to feel deeply wounded about how this plays out. But rest confidently assured that the light will illuminate some deep, and possibly obsessive, pathological tendency on your part to self-sacrifice. You might be about to come face-to-face with your fatal flaw. But does it have to be fatal? Life is filled with considerations about life and death, junctures of consternation that demand internal examination in order to evolve.

Imagine yourself the leading character in a story where you are struggling to succeed. A good story always includes the hero and their struggle to succeed. What gets in your way of doing what you want to do? At the root of most (maybe all) fatal flaws is hubris, but it might not look the way you think. Hubris or pride may be the foundation of your fatal flaw in a way you don’t recognize.

Take George Bailey’s ability to put the needs of others ahead of his own needs. How could this possibly be pride-filled?  But this self-sacrificing behavior provides George with great purpose – initially. I add that qualifier because, in time, the very thing that made George a compassionate man eventually makes him bitter and resentful.  Yet he continuous to sacrifice himself for what he beliefs is the greater benefit to others. In this process he becomes fixed on being “a good person,” and other aspects of himself, like his desire to affect his own destiny, become suppressed. As an observer, it seems unnecessary that George should only find reconciliation in annihilation.  But in order for George to live, he must die the death of his fatal flaw. He must come face to face with the flawed perception that he is all used up by others, when he has really used himself up through his hidden hubris.

Look yourself in the mirror this Full Moon. See your fatal flaw. It is your struggle to maintain a survival system that has outlived its usefulness. It is okay to let it go, even if it appears to mean defeat. Trust that you can rebirth yourself into the contemporary. Let go of past agreements that bind you from your free will and perpetuate a compulsion to be loyal to the past, as if your worth or goodness is stuck in time.

You might be seeing your tragic flaw as a moral dilemma but,  when reconciled, this dilemma can redeem you and free you from your human capacity to make life a struggle. Go ahead and see your flaw as cathartic. Let it have purpose that transcends you more deeply into your worth or value.  Let the fear of failure guide you through a catharsis and learn that you are greater then you think you are.

The work ahead is to heal the divide without becoming divided, and the transverse is giving us more then just two ways to do that. The Moon in Pisces, conjunct Neptune could have you feeling disappointed or confused. Saturn in Sagittarius does its best to provide another way to think about things, but Mars in Aquarius objects, and is determined to protest and beat on a whole other drum.

I have been missing in action for a little bit. I went out to mend fences a few weeks ago and got caught up in a deep conversation about areodynamics with the dead. Today, I am making my way out of the rabbit hole. On landing, I see that things are the same and I see that they are different. I think my recent conversation may be helpful.

Life is composed of two seemingly opposed energies. We are taught to live life within the boundaries of these polarities. Am I right? Or am I wrong? What do you think? But it doesn’t matter what you think. What matters, is what you know.

Knowing, like “seeing,” is an intelligence that is acquired when the mind and the body communicate with each other and then with the rest of the transverse. So what do you notice that you know, what do you see? Do you notice a certain emotional experience around an intellectual inquiry? On my recent journey, I noticed that I was afraid to ask the very question I had set out to answer. I felt the fear in a tightening through my chest and the shortness of my breath. “Don’t ask unless you listen,” I was told. Hmm, I thought I could do it, but when it really came time, I knew I wasn’t ready. I could feel the weight of it. I was afraid to say what I wondered out loud.  I was afraid to make it a real query and not just an idea in my head. I knew that saying aloud would release it from the fantasy that I could control it’s outcome, it’s truth. I knew my expression of it would make it real.

I was afraid to listen. I was afraid to hear. I didn’t want to see what the future might hold. I hesitated to move forward. Fear attracts danger and I saw all the possible bad ways this could work out. And then I was told, “If you want to understand, you will have to look into it.” And I heard the words and knew that my quest could never be contained in the boundaries of some intellectual pursuit. What a drag. An idea is fine, but it would take more then musing to make it valuable. The last messenger, impatient or perhaps enthusiastic, shouted at me, “Get out of here, go! Go, go, go!”

Thrusted forward, back into the evolutionary game, up the rabbit hole and out of there. Back here, where Donald Trump is president and the weather in Boulder Colorado is sunny and some men are making a very dusty mess in my house, and Charlie our cat still has no teeth. See what I mean, some things are different and some things are the same.

1. It is not what you think that matters, it is what you know.
2. Don’t ask, unless you listen.
3. If you want to understand, you will have to look into it.
4. Go forward in service of what really matters to you.

Begin now. Embrace your human-ness while striving for the Divine. This will give you lift. It is not what you think that matters, it is what you know. It may be necessary to see what you think, and then see what you feel, and then see everything in between. If you want to know the answer to the question, you will have to listen to all the information. This will ground you. Sometimes, when things are complex, it is a drag. But that drag serves purpose, it creates a necessity to accept one thing while embracing another. The trajectory forward is found through the resistance of the two opposed energies. In this way, things aren’t always what they seem to be, and in that case, there is always room for things to be different.

Go into the rabbit hole. Travel into the strange trip of your life and be birthed again in the wisdom of greater knowing. Now see what you want to do about it.

We have a New Moon in Libra on Friday.  Jupiter is conjunct the Sun and Moon while Saturn in Sagittarius sextiles Jupiter and the New Moon. Under this aspect you may have greater ease influencing your future. Your fortune cookie might read something like, “Person who believes in a bright future, will brighten the future.”

What are you thinking these days? What do you belief about yourself? What are you thinking about yourself in relationship to others? Under this influence of a New Moon in Libra with Jupiter conjunct the Sun and the Moon, it is like your dad and mom are all for your grandpa getting you a pony. Everybody is happy!

If you could have “your” pony, what kind of a pony would you want? This is a time to be extra thoughtful about what you want. Think about it. What do you want? Mind considering what you don’t want, or you could end up disappointed. Clear out any unhelpful ideas. If it is possible to have your heart’s desire, do you really want to doubt it? If it is at all possible to find satisfaction, do you really want to believe that satisfaction isn’t for you?  If love is out there for the taking, do you really want to pass it up?

Decide what you want. Get out of your head and drop into your body. Feel how much you want to feel Jupiter’s optimism grow in you heart.  Breath it in and let it grow.  Consider that the Sun and the Moon only want you to flourish. Feel the support of the multiverse. Really feel those sensations of great possibility.  What do they feel like in your body?

Mirror those sensations outward and allow for them to be mirrored back to you. Open up to the greatness of yourself and be as generous as Jupiter sharing yourself with others. Strengthen your relationships through what you can do. A kind word to the person checking your groceries; hold the door for another; assist someone struggling with a cumbersome parcel. Forget about what someone else can do for you. See what you have to offer others.  Leave room for it to eventually be mirrored back to you.

Take this opportunity to build a healthy foundation for the reality that you want to create over the next 30 days. This time, let your desire construct a foundation that is made sturdy by the truth of who you really are and not what you fear. Let the foundation be made in the trust that if  you love yourself you will attract others who love you too.  Then see what you’ve built for yourself in 30 days time.

Mars goes direct on Wednesday. This is good news, but it might be a bit like an angry crowd demanding access to shelter from the storm, as Mars will go direct conjunct the Moon and Uranus in Aries.

If you have been working hard these past few weeks, you probably have “taken care” of the walking dead of your past, but it can’t hurt to look over your shoulder one last time for any straggling zombies of your past. It might be like one of those movies, you may want to high step it, think fast, and fire with deliberation. The caveat here? Don’t discharge your weapon if you don’t want somebody to get hurt.

We have been in the thick of our defense mechanisms for a few months now. In psychodynamic theory, defense mechanisms are the unconscious, primitive manners in which we think, feel, and act. They serve to defend us from that which we perceive as threatening, like zombies of the past. If you have been paying attention lately, you probably have noticed which of the defense mechanisms is your drug of choice. Is it denial? Maybe, acting out or regressing? How about reaction formation? Compartmentalizing? Projecting, repressing, dissociating, rationalizing, undoing, intellectualizing, regressing, displacing, or rationalizing?  Yep, there is more than one way to get the job done. But now that you know about your zombies and you know how you always ridiculously think you can out run them, now that you know that, you might want to do something else.

How about discharging a coping mechanism instead? My favorite is sublimation. How about consciously turning that impulsive, primitive, fear of zombies into something that changes the storyline for the betterment of yourself and everyone around you. Why not see yourself this week as useful and constructive? Why not be the person who can look curiously at the zoombies and decide mind fully just what you want to do about the zombie troubles. And then it might be okay to go ahead and do it. And then it might be okay to go ahead and exit the scene of the walking dead stage left.

But wait, there is more. We are not done yet. We’ve still got to create the post-apocalyptic world. So take a few minutes to write it down, sketch it out, or daydream your fantasy about the deadly zombies. This time, let the story go. Let it play itself out. Let it re-invent itself. Then, YOU, yes YOU, go see if it is possible to turn that story into a wonderful meal, a beautiful pot of flowers, a zombie free night out, a good bike ride, a hike in the woods, a swim in the river. You get what I mean, transform that zombie energy into something you can use and then channel that into to something you can create. It might be a good thing if the future isn’t what it used to be.

I saw them coming,
A display of wondrous white balloons.
My anticipation stepped up,
Curious
Like a child, for the floating sound of a far off marching band.

Magically,
They were before me.
Whimsical
White-haired puffs –
Fair mothers, every one of them,

Rhythmically marching on a current air.
Ancient majorettes traveling festively,
Widespread
Twirling their batons
And alluding to cartwheels.

Each a soft note in showy song
That made up a mystical show.
Grand birds,
Covered down and dressed right,
Descending some ancient world.

We were ridiculously charmed.
Hypnotized as we stood facing the sun,
Palms lifted high with the desire to touch one of those sacred feathers.
Our jaws fell open like peasants bowing to an esteemed troop.
We were inflated with joy.

A swell of them billowed past me,
Ghosts with soft, silky white plumes
Belly full and swelled up with life.
Their ceremonial movement
Paraded right through me.

Heads turned,
Witnessed
The dandy strangers parachute to the ground
And disappear, as if they’d never emerged
From the sacred loins of the Cottonwood tree.
